Roast level: Medium-light
Tasting notes: Maple syrup, sugar plum, vanilla
Single Origin: Western Rwanda, Rustiro District

From Western Rwanda, this coffee is grown with impeccable care and skill. The medium-light roast is full of subtle nuances, with a soft sweetness like maple syrup and sugar plum, in a medium-bodied cup. We love this coffee in a range of brewers, notably as a single origin espresso, as cold brew, and as a V60 pour over.

Brewing a bright tomorrow

This coffee is grown by the women of the expansive Kopakama Cooperative, who have united to enhance the quality of their coffee and contribute to the prosperity of their community. The term "Ejo Heza," translating to "bright tomorrow," encapsulates their vision. Since initiating cultivation on their own lands in 2011, they have demonstrated remarkable proficiency in crafting high-quality coffees, securing a premium price through direct sales to buyers.

A percentage of the sales proceeds is directly allocated to a local bank account owned by these women. Annually, during their assembly, members cast votes to decide how these funds will be utilized, ensuring sustainable community development.

We categorize roast level per general terms, and are subject to our opinion. Visual difference may not be detectable. Lighter roasts will have more nuanced flavors and higher acidity, medium roasts will have a balanced body, and darker roasts will have a richer and fuller body.

Please select the closest option for pre-ground coffee:
Fine for espresso
Medium for drip and pour overs
Coarse for french press or cold brew.

For a more dialed in grind, we highly recommend purchasing a burr grinder for best results.

We roast weekly, and label each bag with the roast date for your reference. We recommend brewing within 3 months of the roast date for best results, and optimal flavor extraction we recommend brewing 2-4 weeks post roast date, depending on the bean and brew method.

We ship all orders via USPS Ground. Orders are shipped typically 1-3 days from order date unless fresh beans need to be roasted. We roast on a weekly basis, so orders could take up to 5 days to ship. Email us with any questions or concerns! hello@sweltercoffee.com

If there is an issue with your order, you can contact us within 30 days of purchase to resolve. If you simply do not like the coffee, we cannot offer a refund. Please gift the coffee to someone who may enjoy it!
