Charlotte's DRC • Medium-Dark Roast
- Description
Roast level: Medium-dark
Tasting notes: Caramel, passion fruit, maple syrup
Single Origin: Democratic Republic of Congo, South Kivu Province
This unique bean from Eastern Congo delights with a bold flavor matched with a rich sweetness. We love it at a medium-dark roast as its complexity really shines, with richness like caramel and a soft but strong sweetness like passion fruit. We love this coffee brewed stronger, matching perfectly with our favorite creamer and a splash of simple syrup. It shines especially well in a moka pot or espresso.

The women behind this coffee
This coffee is from the Mapendo group working with Mighty Peace Coffee. Charlotte is one of the farmers in this group. Mighty Peace is proud to represent the highest quality of coffee from the Democratic Republic of Congro, sourced from cooperatives using ethical and sustainable practices. They are also passionate about promoting peace as Congo has experienced much conflict in history. The tradition of harvesting coffee there is longstanding, and they hope to spread the word.
We categorize roast level per general terms, and are subject to our opinion. Visual difference may not be detectable. Lighter roasts will have more nuanced flavors and higher acidity, medium roasts will have a balanced body, and darker roasts will have a richer and fuller body.
Please select the closest option for pre-ground coffee:
Fine for espresso
Medium for drip and pour overs
Coarse for french press or cold brew
For a more dialed in grind, we highly recommend purchasing a burr grinder for best results.
We roast weekly, and label each bag with the roast date for your reference. We recommend brewing within 3 months of the roast date for best results, and optimal flavor extraction we recommend brewing 2-4 weeks post roast date, depending on the bean and brew method.
We ship all orders via USPS Ground. Orders are shipped typically 1-3 days from order date unless fresh beans need to be roasted. We roast on a weekly basis, so orders could take up to 5 days to ship. Email us with any questions or concerns! hello@sweltercoffee.com
